About our guests:

Kris Alvarez:

Kris Alvarez is a theatre artist and a Regina monologue. Over the past 12 years, Kris has had the privilege to bridge diverse communities through theatre creation & play. At Globe Theatre School, as lead teacher & Young Company director, she implemented their first-ever Early Years programming. Currently at Fadadance, Kris introduced a similar movement course for the very young, Wee Folk. Kris contributes to Curtain Razors Theatre as a performer (Bad Blood, Carmen Angel), as an Artistic Associate, and with her own work (What Kind of Brown Are You?). Inspired by ‘growing up brown’ in 1980s Regina, its most recent incarnation, Burnt Sienna with Kris Alvarez, is a talk show/variety show “with a little more colour” returning for a 2019-20 series.

Kam Biah:

Kam, being born and raised in Regina, SK, has always found herself involved in community. Having played soccer growing up, she learnt the importance of encouragement and self-esteem, particularly being a student athlete, she completed her Bachelor’s Degree in Education. Soon after graduating, Kam started teaching with the Regina Public School Board.  Fast forward 12 years later, Kam has worked with thousands of youth across Saskatchewan and Ontario. From Kam’s early years, playing soccer for the U of R and through her early teaching experiences, her goal was to dedicate herself to enabling young females to realize their full potential through encouragement and self-belief. To better equip herself to achieving her goals, Kam completed her Master’s Degree in Educational Psychology. Through her experience as a teacher and community involvement, Kam is now more certain than ever that her purpose in life is to help those around her, more specifically, the youth in our communities. Kam’s passion and goal remains - to help young females realize their strengths, motivate them to use their ability to do great things, and cultivate positive change in their lives; who in turn can model their lives for positive change to others around them. She is devoted to youth, showing them their true talents, and being one individual that can be a source of encouragement to help empower and encourage the younger generation of females.

Jennifer Denouden:

Jenn Denouden is the President and CEO of Avana, named Canada’s Top 10 Fastest-Growing company on the 2020 Growth List. Avana paves the way as a female-led real estate development and asset management company with $200 million in assets under management. Her professional passion is to help create attainable, safe, quality housing – a crucial part of Avana’s burgeoning real estate portfolio. She invests in empowering women and children to escape domestic abuse through attainable, safe, and quality housing and projects spearheaded by the Avana Foundation. She is passionate about fighting for equality by helping men and women alike realize its power of profitability. She uses her platform as a female leader to write and speak about topics that she has encountered first-hand. Jenn is passionate about equality, pay equity, female leadership, board representation, and revitalizing male-dominated industries.

Taylor Chapman:

When Taylor was finishing her kinesiology classes at the University of Regina, the opportunity to join Kale in Good Spirit Kombucha arose. With an interest in wellness and entrepreneurship the opportunity to run a kombucha brewery was perfect! Over a few short years she grew Good Spirit Kombucha from a side gig with friends to a commercial scale brewing company. When she’s not in the brewery you’ll find her doing DIY projects around the house, with her dogs and family or gardening!
