REGINA, SK, September 16th, 2021 — The revitalization of the city of Regina is something that has been long discussed, and now, a local non-profit group is taking the matter into its own hands with the help of one of the city’s most trusted agencies. Buckets & Borders— established in 2015 by Justin and Brendan Lee was developed to document basketball culture around the world. As they enter into their 8th year, the Regina-born initiative is working to bring that focus home with the development of a docu-series aptly titled “The Cage”. The project will showcase the tear-down, development and rebirth of an iconic set of basketball courts located in Regina’s Lakeview community.

Making this project possible are a number of public and private sector organizations with close ties to Regina's sport, culture and recreation communities. In an effort to shine a spotlight on this large-scale undertaking, Buckets & Borders brought on mixed media agency Munz Media to document the process of reinvigorating the famed locale. In order to do this, Munz sought out and enlisted the assistance of prairie marketing mainstay Directwest, who themselves know a thing or two about grabbing the attention of a community.

Munz Media CEO, Tanner Goetz, who has been working closely with the project's development had this to say about the partnership with Directwest: “We couldn’t be more honoured to be producing the web series for ‘The Cage’. Partnering with Directwest & Buckets and Borders will only help foster inclusivity and celebrate cultural diversity. Not only because it is making our community a better, more well-rounded place— but because we are also big fans of everything the game means to that community.”

When asked about the project and his organization’s involvement, Danny Loughren, Marketing Manager – Brand, Directwest said: “Directwest is proud to be a partner of the Buckets & Borders Web Series. We believe in supporting local, and this initiative is a much needed lift to the incredible basketball community we have in Regina. The amazing work Munz Media is doing with this web series will only further increase the reach of Buckets & Borders, and we’re proud to support them every step of the way.”

We’re grateful to partner with the community-minded organizations at Munz Media, and Directwest to bring this project to life and to celebrate Regina’s basketball community and the many people and organizations that have contributed to The Lakeview Project, Buckets & Borders and the basketball community as a whole.

Production of “The Cage” is slated to begin in the coming weeks, with a tentative release date planned for winter 2021.
